This course will discuss persistence and adherence in glaucoma medication compliance. Barriers to compliance such as personality traits, difficulty with regimen, and provider communication will be discussed in order to help the optometrist try to overcome these barriers.

Upon course completion, you will be able to:

  1. To understand barriers that patients experience in managing their glaucoma

  2. To identify ways the provider can help patients overcome these barriers in order to stay compliant with treatment

  3. To learn which personality traits are associated with good/poor compliance

  4. To help the provider anticipate and recognize non-compliance so that earlier intervention can occur to prevent further vision loss in glaucoma
