This course will review cases of pediatric posterior segment conditions, including optic nerve anomalies (optic nerve drusen, papilledema, and congenital glaucoma), lipemia retinalis, and retinal hamartoma. Discussion will include systemic associations, implications for vision development, and co-management with retinal surgeons.
Upon course completion, you will be able to:
- Discuss modified exam techniques that can assist in gathering clinical findings during a pediatric exam.
- Review pertinent clinical differentials that will assist in diagnosing children with posterior segment disease.
- Review the treatment and management of various pediatric posterior segment diseases.
- Review the importance of amblyopia treatment in the setting of pediatric posterior segment disease.
