A discussion of key decisions in the evaluation and management of a young glaucoma patient will be provided. Several key issues will be discussed including glaucomatous versus nonglaucomatous damage, disc hemorrhages, and glaucoma management in pregnancy.
At the completion of this course the attendee should be able to:

Describe clinical signs suggestive of nonglaucomatous optic neuropathy.

Describe the controversy surrounding optic disc hemorrhages – whether they portend progression and the current knowledge/studies as well as a clinical strategy for management.

Describe the typical visual field loss associated with pituitary adenoma.

Describe a clinical strategy for the management of glaucoma in pregnancy based on minimizing the risk to the fetus while maintaining control of the glaucoma.
