State Board Requirements

Weā€™ve developed a series of engaging continuing education conferences, forums and courses specifically designed to meet the required standards of California State Board of Optometry.

Per the California CE guidelines, as of May 2020, licensees may complete all of their required CE hours using online courses. Interactive courses offered live over internet platforms such as Zoom, or courses being offered by COPE, will count towards the required live CE course credits.

SCCO offers high-quality online asynchronous education for optometrists to enhance their understanding of a variety of topics. We provide innovative and challenging online COPE-Approved coursework right at your fingertips.

Optometrists can browse our catalog of online CE coursework, make an online payment to enroll in a course and complete coursework by reviewing all portions of the required reading materials, including the Course Introduction, Case Reports, Discussion, Conclusion, and Examination.

Live Continuing Education Events

In addition to our online asynchronous CE, we offer live synchronous CE events led by MBKU/SCCO faculty and colleagues from partnering institutions who are experts in their field.

Each live CE event focuses on the most important topics for practicing optometrists. Earn up to 8 CE units in a single day by registering for one of our upcoming CE programs.

The Optometric Clinical Seminars and Brown Bag Seminars are conducted as a series of lectures presented by members of the residency faculty and staff at the Veterans Affairs MedicalĀ Centers of Greater Los Angeles. This interactive series is designed to present the essential core of optometric and clinical knowledge in a manner that enhances understanding and retention.

Each section of the Optometric Clinical Seminars course curriculum contains related aspects of basic and clinical science, designed for the practicing optometrist.
